Housing
Housing is an essential basic need
Problem: Our rural people currently need a lot of wood to build their houses. Unfortunately, this resource is dwindling fast. Sustainable solutions ar erequired.
Solution: The Ecodome. When we heard about this, we were really excited and wanted to try it at once.
We wrote to CalEarth, the organisation behind these constructions, seeking contact details of any companies or groups producing these or the material required. Unfortunately, they are not aware of anyone near Zimbabwe who can supply the bags. They advised us that:
- They use “woven polypropylene, which is very commonly used in the agricultural industry for storing and transportation of rice, beans, coffee, grains, etc.
- It’s produced in the long rolls and then typically cut into shorter bags (25 kg, 50 kg, etc.), but it’s often difficult to buy this material in roll form“.
- They also said that “it may be easier to get them from an actual manufacturer rather than a supplier“.
Can anyone help? Do you know of a supplier somewhere in Southern Africa?
